Maine Economic Growth Council's Measures of Growth Report

The Maine Economic Growth Council and Maine Development Foundation are pleased to present Measures of Growth 2017, the 23rd annual report on the key indicators that measures Maine’s progress toward long-term economic growth and a high quality of life for all Maine people.  

Highlighting the report are three indicators awarded gold stars for exceptional performance (International Exports, Air Quality, and Water Quality) and five assigned red flags, highlighting a need for particular attention (Research and Development Expenditures, Fourth Grade Reading Scores, Postsecondary Educational Attainment, Working Age Population, and Transportation Infrastructure).  Overall, four indicators made progress relative to their benchmarks, five lost ground, sixteen saw no significant movement, and one was not assigned a grade.
