Our own Lois Skillings spoke at the Portland stop of the Million Mask Challenge on October 6th, 2020 as a representative of health care workers in our region. The Challenge traveled through six states, hosted nine strategic event stops, delivered 100,000 PPE face-masks to each Rotary District and their Clubs throughout New England. The goal is to have each Rotary Club in these areas provide protective masks to grass-roots first responders, essential workers and schools inside their communities. Rotary District 7780, which includes 41 Rotary clubs in Southern Maine and Coastal New Hampshire, is planning the publicity events around the mask distribution to highlight the importance of wearing masks and the role of Rotarians in the community.
